I haven't checked yet but I'm wondering if the popular and free VOIP/IM application called Fring is compatible with the Nokia E71. Over at the Fring Forums one of the support team members says they haven't fully tested it with the E71, but if you download the Nokia N95 version Fring will work fine. I suspect they are right since the E71 runs on Symbian S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1, just like the N95 does. Update: In another thread, it looks like a user is have some problems with Fring. They really need to get this fixed as the E71 is almost ready to be released for the mass market. I'll keep you updated.
If you haven't already tried out Fring for S60 you really need to give it a shot. It allows you to connect to all your favorite IM chat services and also lets you make internet calls using Skype and many more VOIP services.
