Nokia E71 Variants, Bands, & Model Numbers
Posted by Mike Macias
One thing I hate trying to figure out when buying a new unlocked phone is which version to get? If the phone is meant for world use, there is a good chance that the 3g bands will only work in certain locations depending on which version you buy.
Take the Nokia E71 for instance. When you go to buy one you'll notice there is a E71-1, E71-2, E71-3. This can get really really really confusing. You don't want to end up buying the wrong one and not having high speed 3g in the area you live.
Here are the E71 variants and models numbers along with the regions they are made for (in terms of 3g bands)...
E71-1 RM-346 = GSM 850/900/1800/1900; WCDMA 900/2100
E71-2 RM-357 = GSM 850/900/1800/1900; WCDMA 850/1900
E71-3 RM-407 = GSM 850/900/1800/1900; WCDMA 850/2100
To make that clear,
E71-1 is for Europe/Asia
E71-2 is for AT&T in the USA, and (Rogers?) in Canada
E71-3 is for one of the Australian carriers
Hopefully this makes the buying process a little easier for you guys. Keep in mind all three will work fine anywhere, just not the 3g.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
